We are Wild Rescue Tanzania

PRESERVING TANZANIA'S UNIQUE BIODIVERSITY

According to TAWA, the number of injured and orphaned wild animals  in Tanzania's eastern zone has been steadily growing in recent years, presenting a critical challenge.

Currently, there is no dedicated facility to provide comprehensive care, rehabilitation, and release for these vulnerable animals. In the past 12 years, orphaned elephant and injured cheetahs have often been raised in private facilities, whilst a number of various species have been taken to Dar es Salaam Zoo.

Our conservation efforts are driven by the immediate need to bridge this gap, offering a solution that ensures the well-being of these animals, where they can be rescued, rehabilitated and released into the wild.

Situated within the Wami Mbiki Game Reserve, our Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre is set to become a cornerstone of wildlife conservation, boasting advanced facilities dedicated to the rehabilitation, care, and study of wildlife. This project will include wildlife rescue field activities, a veterinary clinic and rehabilitation spaces, and a conservation education hub amongst other essential pillars.

What We Do

Our conservation efforts, rehabilitation centre, and clinic will be situated within the vast expanse of Wami Mbiki Game Reserve in eastern Tanzania. This reserve itself spans almost 250,000 hectares, serving as a vital wildlife corridor for a variety of species that migrate through year-round.

On-the-ground efforts to rescue and rehabilitate wildlife in distress, responding swiftly to emergencies and playing a crucial role in safeguarding the biodiversity of the Wami Mbiki ecosystem.

The survival of our wildlife is a matter of grave concern to all of us in Africa. These wild creatures amid the wild places they inhabit are not only important as a source of wonder and inspiration but are an integral part of our natural resources and our future livelihood and well being. In accepting the trusteeship of our wildlife, we solemnly  declare that we will do everything in our power to make sure  that our children’s grandchildren will be able to enjoy this rich and precious inheritance. The conservation of wildlife and wild places calls for specialist knowledge, trained manpower, and money and we look to other nations to cooperate with us in this important task - the success or failure of which not only affects the continent of Africa but the rest of the world as well.
